My goal as an artist is to inspire, mentor, support & employ Black artists.
LaKeya Stokes attended College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit, MI where she majored in Fine Arts, with a focus on Art Direction.
No stranger to trailblazing, she opened Quite Fire Ink, the first & only Black-owned tattoo studio in Naples, where she specialized in custom design creation that promoted the importance of skillfully tattooing color on darker skin tones. When discussing the tattooing industry and how often Black people are left out, Stokes has stated, “Africans created the tradition of tattooing, yet Black people are so often shut out of the industry & passed up as clients. I wanted a safe space for Black people to participate in our culture, so I created that space.”
A lifelong artist, LaKeya is versed in most mediums ranging from watercolor, mixed media & primarily traditional oil painting. Most notably oil painting & digital illustration by commission and portrait photography.
In addition to visual arts, LaKeya is adding filmmaking to her repertoire. With the short film Planted currently in production.
A true artistic polymath, LaKeya is a visual artist, illustrator, entrepreneur, tattoo artist, photographer, instructor and philanthropist.
